Why We Share Books

We share what we love, when we create an atmosphere in our classroom that shows our students that reading is important, we encourage students to share the books they love with each other. Sharing books is a critical aspect to a thriving classroom, because when children share what they are reading it creates a sense of ownership and pride in their books. While children can read alone there is something special that happens when we have a community. Reading isn’t cool anymore; most children are embarrassed to admit that they read over playing video games. By building communities that celebrates reading we are setting up the next generation for success. A community that celebrates reading shares books, they talk about what they read last, and what they will read the future.

What is something you love?

Does is come from above?

Or does it come from far below?

Does it sparkle or does it glow?

Could it be all these things?

In the pages of books that we turn.

Deep in those pages we learn.

Of far off lands that hold mystery .

Or lands under our feet their history.

We share these adventures together.

Sitting side by side two birds of a feather.

What is something I love?

Being in this community where I fit like a glove.

Sharing my love of reading and of books.
